How Does BidNip Stack Up Against the Competition?
BidNip has a cute home page. I know…I used the word “cute”, so what about it? :-)
Their website has a very simple feel. The navigation was very simple, which is something that is very much needed in the esnipe service world.
The pricing is set very well for an esnipe service provider. Their prices are from free for the first 5 snipes, to $39.95 for 250 snipes. Here’s the good part.
If you don’t win the auction that you bid on, you don’t pay.
That means that if you have 250 snipes and you place a snipe that doesn’t win the auction, you’ll still have 250 snipes left.
The search features included at Bid Nip work, but only if you use Internet Explorer. If you use other browsers there is no guarantee that the search features will work.
Not to Search or Not to Search, That Is The Question
The heading “Not to Search or Not to Search…” is not a mistype. Although Bid Nip provides search features from their website, they are very basic.
They do not provide a way to snipe from the auction item’s web page, nor do they provide a way to perform advanced searches, including searches for a keyword that exists in both the auction title and the auction item description.
Navigating the BidNip Site
Moving around BidNip was very simple. The links were very self-explanatory and esnipe features were very easy to use.
There are 2 downfalls to the navigation of their site. One, you cannot bid from an auction item’s web page.
This means that you’d have to know the E-Bay auction item number before you could place a snipe for an auction.
Well, there goes the easy navigation in one fail swoop!
Bid Groups
Yet again, this is where BidNip drops the ball. There is no support for bid groups provided.
If the navigation wasn’t enough of a road block, here’s a brick wall for ya!
Seeing that this is an important feature to getting what you want at the price you want, not using bid groups really make it much more difficult to get incredible prices on online auctions.
Conclusion
The layout of Bid Nip’s web site is definitely a plus. Their site is one of the more visually pleasant esnipe sites to visit.
Unfortunately, the navigation and snipe process, the lack of bid group support, and the poor search features make this a snipe service that we cannot recommend.
However, if all you want in an esnipe service is a basic, straight-forward, and very inexpensive service, then BidNip is for you. You definitely will find it hard to find better priced esnipe service providers.
